Maybe the reason you can't get into Time Tourist is because it really isn't that good. I bought it about two years ago, so it was (slightly) less dated then, but still wasn't very good. Time Tourist came out in 96, and look at the other recordings on Warp from that era. Tri Repetae is the one that comes to mind...it's light years beyond Time Tourist. I might fathom a guess that it was dated before it came out. :) (At least one of the tracks -- "Scriptures" -- came out more than two years prior on AI2). The first track is good though. However, I really like Electro-Soma. But then again, I enjoy listening to the Artificial Intelligence series a lot; I think it's great hacking music, and it's so much more melodic than a lot of today's stuff. Tracks like "Obsessed" are just awesome because of the cool, smooth melody. Another thing that occured to me is how much different Autechre circa 1993 sounds compared to now. Listen to "Bike," then listen to something from Confield. You'd swear it was two different artists. forcasa __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! hm..._time tourist_ always struck much more of a chord with me than _electro-soma_. _electro-soma_ was a bit too, i dunno kinda sounded like futuristic dentist's office music. i'd still love to get a copy of _time tourist_ on vinyl - only because the cover art is so damned good! easily one of the best warp covers. micah stupak /"\ laerm@soulfood.org ascii ribbon campaign \ / international bright young kook against HTML email X / \ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

My favorite track on AI2 is the first one by Mark Franklin. I have no idea who this is and if this person is active today. Anyone? That compilation still gets constantly played in my house. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
