OK, OK ... I'll do one of these. Super Collider - Head On (why didn't someone tell me about this before?!?) Jake Mandell - Lovesongs for Machines (really worth the money; essential) Two Lone Swordsmen - Tiny Reminders (the swordsmen make me dance) Luomo - Vocalcity (so does v.delay (and mandell, for that matter) Manitoba - Start Breaking My Heart (beautiful, diverse, get it) Mouse on Mars - Idiology (the first few tracks are slamming, but then it just drags on and on) Autechre - Confield (i really really like it, but not their best and maybe too long - should have been an ep?) Matmos - A Chance to Cut is a Chance to Cure (I hate to say it, but, although I like them, I think Matmos are a fad...) there is of course more, but I need to save my energy for flame-wars, not actual content. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'm glad someone else said this, I think their stuff is fine, but with limited appeal and staying power - i.e. I'll probably trade the cds in 6 months. I guess seeing them live is probably the key here, bathed in self-irony or something. And I may well this weekend at the SFEMF. -i __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I posted about this a few times when it came out. It's a really, really awesome album. One of my favorite electronic albums. I think it totally blows most of what's labeled IDM out of the water. No traces of Autechre or Aphex mimicry to be found. And imo it totally fits the IDM tag cuz it's full of like insane DSP fuckery, but it's really funky. Kind of a dada soul album.
