Well... of course John Twells knows his shit inside out... A note to Laurent Knauth : there's still PLENTY of great music out there. Don't feel old... The same kids grew up WITH you. I still keep on discovering new gems! Fans of FSOL would dig the latest by Circular, titled "Moon Pool" on Ultimae... Of course there's the new Aphex Twin (but I won't start that thread here). The Flashbulb just can't stop producing and Benn is getting better every single time! There are no real "IDM" labels per se these days, but n5MD, Skam, and Tympanik are still kicking... Here's a great dose of IDM to keep you busy http://reviews.headphonecommute.com/2014/07/26/sound-bytes-rob-clouth-2methyl-clockvice-and-known-rebel/ On Sat, Sep 27, 2014 at 10:13 AM, Mehmet Ismail <mehmet.ismail85@gmail.com> wrote:

Thank you IDM Chicago ! Electronic music/techno/IDM started faceless, but time proved that it cannot stand without graphic designers which, more often than not, unfortunately appear much more talented than the «artists» they're supposed to serve — now this is only anyone's (i.e. me) opinion and should be handled as such ; sorry if i offended anyone. IDM Chicago, i promise to consult your website extensively, even though Flying Lotus and Actress figure among the worst abuses that happened to (ill-ectronic) music to me ! For the aforementioned reason, the good news are that http://reviews.headphonecommute.com/ looks great first ! I'm absolutely convinced that some great stuff are likely to get released anyday but the little time (if any) i have to make them come out desperates me. There are not many magazines left and i can hardly trust the Boomkat ubiquitous «Essential purchase» and «Recommended» reviews so, all in all, your commutation is welcome ! Thanks a lot for the time and dedication you put into it. -- " *Automatic, pushbutton, remote controlSynthetic, genetics command your soul.*" The Last Poets, *Mean machine* On Sun, Oct 12, 2014 at 12:49 AM, IDM Chicago <idm.chicago@gmail.com> wrote:

Me too. In some ways, I feel "Eternal September" has finally come to an end: Old tubes like IRC and usenet are gradually being forgotten as facebook pins down the demographic that AOL unleashed.... and then they go back to the beards. Email will never go away, but it's surprised me how much it's fallen out of fashion as of late. It was one of the few things I just sort of assumed would never fall out of favor... Certainly flooded with nostalgia and a whole lot of "Oooh, I need to go back and listen to that again for the first time in forever" while going through this. http://www.factmag.com/2014/09/22/the-100-greatest-idm-tracks-100-51/

Hi there, In my opinion : 1. looking at this «best of» compilation helped me understand for the first time why i'm feeling so old lately, since i'm unable to find any «up to date» music that brings me the same feelings — i used to think it was because i was completely «out» (i'm 42) and because i have no spare time to go for discoveries but in fact, the most recent release from this list is from 2003 so it's not just me ! 2. i don't understand how Richard Devine and Kettel are not in the top 10 — in my opinion, Kettel is much underrated and Devine's «Lipswitch» beats almost anything else (although it seems logical to me as well that Autechre is #1) ; oh, and as some people noticed, there should have been some place for Mark Bell 3. i'm surprised not to have seen Ultramarine, Alter Ego and even Morgan Geist : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckhXhjiksQQ&list=PL-r7aFHBM7knBRYLPxcmjvb1UF0Z8BtTN -- " *Automatic, pushbutton, remote controlSynthetic, genetics command your soul.*" The Last Poets, *Mean machine* On Wed, Sep 24, 2014 at 9:42 AM, Da Beber <superdezzz@hotmail.com> wrote:
