ok, not techincally IDM but what's the general consensus on this album? i've been hesitant on buying this simply because my want list is too big. is it just more of the same (in which I'll skip), or do they take it in a more interesting direction? i enjoyed interstate more as it tended to be more uptempo than its predecessor. also, i was always a huge fan of porter ricks (and thomas koner).. during their brief span on chain reaction, they were easily my favorite. does anybody have any recommendations for that brand of sub-aquatic dub/minimalist techno? thanx _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yeh ive posted a few such reccomendations over the last few days, but i SUPPOSE i can write em again, seeing as ur th only person who seems able to speak about something other than ae! ;) i am VERY dissapointed with gravity, all the atmosphere, depth and ambience from hongkong (and interstate) has been sucked out: it is flat and bland, their is none of the unique atmosphere of previous releases... well you might be able to tell that is not exactly a favourite release! Both fluxion albums are incredible (vibrant forms 1 an 2) enveloping, dubby, mind altering tones, drones and beats! these are FAR more like what we want. try, you will not be dissapointed! best on CR (apart from monolake + vainquer) in my opinion. i also put some reviews on yesterday, 1 of theorem - ion, bit more overtly techno and earthy but enjoyable hope this helps -thomas ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It's better than interstate, IMO. Much better.

it's very nice, if not entirely similar to Interstate. if you enjoyed that record, you'll like Gravity a lot, but it's definitely nothing new. I think 'Gravity' is pretty poor. Very cold, very icy, very boring. Every track seems to be just slowly reworking loops, which can be done well, but here is honestly so repetitive there's nothing to sustain interest. Nor is there enough atmosphere to get lost in. A release I picked up recently which made me think of Chain Reaction era Porter Ricks is Radio. It's a Spanish duo, comprised of guys who release stuff seperately as Silvania and Prozack. I ordered it blind cos I'm that into Silvania's 'Naves Sin Puertos', which is more like maybe Seefeel or someone. Prozack brings in the techno influences and it all swims rather nicely. It reminded me of Porter Ricks for having that muted sound with things sounding like they were crashing and bashing but very very far away. Might be worth checking out... I second Michael's recommendation of the Radio & Silvania albums on the spanish Elefant Dance label. Radio does some fantasticly deep melodic techno ranging in flavor from dub to detroit. Silvania is good too with a nice remix release featuring many of the bigger idm remixers. there are a few other elefant dance label releases i've also enjoyed but i dont remember the names offhand. i've not heard the prozack release yet but if it's like porter ricks then i think i'll be checking it out soon. -->-Lance---- PO Box 450715 Westlake, OH 44145 United States --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
