Heh, while I like the idea, I'd like to defend Winnipeg's culinary status and suggest that perhaps the golden arches (or the big yellow 'M') are there to imply the first letter in "Manitoba". ... and thankfully, Winnipeg was never graced with the deliciously titled "McCrab", unlike some eastern parts of the U.S. Your friend in justice, Mayor McCheese On Sat, 28 Apr 2001, Vector Audax wrote:

I see, thanks for the clue and sorry for Winnipeg. Hey, I feel in the mood for a poll which will annoy our "grumpy delete-button friends"... Polish parliament today changed the Animal Protection Law in our country. The change concern the possibility of conducting experiments on wild and homeless animals. We are prefectly aware that EU countries will in the next few years stop such experiments altogether. This is probably the price that Poland will pay for becoming a member of the EU. We think that pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies from EU countries will want to conduct these experiments in our country. There is still a possibility for the President of our country to veto these ammendments but we have maximum 21 days only to convince him to do so. These ammendments were done in secrecy of the animal organisations here and were included in the last minute. On Tuesday (24.05.2001) we organised a demonstration outside the Parliament protesting against these changes and it looks like nobody is going to listen to what we have to say. We have sent many letters to Members of Parliament and the President with no response. We approach you with a request to notify as many peopl as possible about this and the media in your countries. Maybe then our President will listen to the voices of those who care about the fate of animals. The President of Poland, Aleksander Kwasniewski e-mai address: listy@prezydent.pl Yours Sincerely, Aniela Roehr (Vice-President of \'ARKA\' - Association of Defenders of Animals) e-mail: sozarka@wp.pl

Haven't gone there in about a decade. Even before I became a pesco-vegetarian I never ate at any of those places. That's some really evil shit, on so many levels. I think even if you're broke you always have better options than McD's. Last time I was in Paris I heard there were 30 McDs there. What's the tally now ? If anyone feels like learning some interesting factoids about McDonalds, check out this thing they've got over at www.spinthebot tle.com. The website is done by the same people responsible for pop-up video. Anyway, I forget which section its in but I think its under something like "what's the deal with...?" One interesting fact I remember from my last visit there: 90% of children between the ages of 5-9 visited McDonalds in the last month. Scary. Also, in the eighties, McDonalds was one of the biggest private investors in satellite photography because they were monitoring urban growth to find out where to put in new McDonalds. -Aaron ----- Original Message ----- From: andrei@world.s td.com Date: Saturday, April 28, 2001 10:36 am Subject: Re: [idm] McDonalds

In most of the world it is, but in the U.S. it's hard to beat a hamburger for $0.29USD! Good, fresh food is so much more expensive... in the cities, anyway. And for someone trying to support 4 kids with little education on minimum wage, well, that's why Americans are so fat! Most of us aren't that rich. (I can't afford Reaktor or Kyma or even a used synth at the moment! My music-making setup is 100% free/shareware on my girlfriend's computer. I choke down McDeathburger when I have to.)
