======================================================== MUTEK / Music, Sound and New Technologies - 2nd Edition Montreal, May 30 - June 3, 2001 ======================================================== Last year's inaugural presentation of MUTEK generated much interest, in Montreal as well as abroad. Achieving much success it earned an enviable reputation on the international scene, setting itself up as an important, one of a kind reference in North America. Thus the return of MUTEK is a much-awaited event. Presented by Ex-Centris, the second edition of MUTEK will be held in Montreal from May 30th to June 3rd, 2001 - five days of concerts and performance illustrating the worldwide vitality of sound and music creation based on the use of digital technologies. The MUTEK 2001 program features a selection of the most original and innovative artists in the field of advanced electronic music. Well connected to ever-changing influences and trends that transcend societies, MUTEK widens its horizons this year to recognize the global character of a major cultural phenomenon. With the presence of 40 artists from nine countries from Argentina and Chile to Sweden, through the Netherlands, France, and Canada, the leaders of the international avant-garde will meet in Montreal for this occasion. Over the course of five rich and intense evenings, the experience offered by MUTEK's unfolding program is film-like with its experimental intro all the way through to its explosive conclusion. Between these two poles, an evolutionary path is drawn to offer your eyes-and-ears all facets of today's digital creations, a variety of genres for audiences to choose from according to their tastes and temperaments. Whether you enjoy minimalist refinement, the bewitchment of dub, the emotions of house or the strangeness of new experimentation, a change of scene, amazement and many thrills are guaranteed.
