That book also makes a the point that there were essentially a FINITE number
of Northern Soul tunes to be found in the world, since the scene was all
about resurrecting a type of music that had already passed into history. So
this really was very different to today's scenes, in that as someone has
already mentioned, there are always new records coming through and a vast
body of stuff to draw on.
You can definitely see why rarity/secrecy really mattered to Northern Soul
DJs in ways that no longer apply.
