i agree with some of the bits you have said, but i do find IDM to be very
unique, i guess it does not really mean *Inteligent* + *dance* music :-P
i guess idm signifies the term braindance more acurately, music for your
brain rather than your feet.
if you like experimental music, *read* pushing the envelope in terms of
sound synthesis as well as new approaches of composition, join the
.microsoundlist on hyeperreal. it is very informative.
most of the stuff ive heard from recomendations from there challenges my
preception of what kind of sounds and resultant compositions from those
sounds can be considered music. microsound keeps me confused to wether the
stuff is art, soulfull music or just DSP wankery, and i kind of like that
challenge
