Sorry for being a little slow on the uptake, haven't checked my mail in a little while, but thought I might jump in with some recommendationss also. I've really been digging a lot of anticon stuff recently, especially Slug & Atmosphere (who I guess technically aren't in Anticon, but whatever). I'm pissed about having to miss Buck 65 tonight (exam tommorow) but I love his flow, especially on 15 Minutes To Live (all of you with emusic accounts should grab it). Oh yeah, and the one CD I can't believe hasn't been mentioned before: Rapid Transit. Includes a couple of tracks by P73, some Ko-Wrecktion Techniques, and the pimpest remix ever, the Gescom remix of Push Button Objects. I can't begin to describe my appreciation for that track. Plus you'll get the staple of IDM hip hop, Tried by 12. Again. :P Cheers _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

WOO. Somebody posted once about taking the track to a grad-level music class, and going over it with their prof. Is that person still around? Wanna repost? It was pretty interesting... I totally agree. I just received this CD couple of days ago along with bunch of others but listened to it more than 10 times. Great idm hip-hop compilation featuring: Prefuse 73, PBO, Gescom, Ko-Wrecktion Technique, Roots Manuva, etc. Nice beats and rhythms for your money. Alien. np. I think it might have been Hrvatski, and I remember it being a great post, too. It definitely increased my appreciation for the Gescom remix. Maybe this was it? (from the archives): ----- Date: Mon, 07 Feb 2000 02:57:40 -0500 From: greg davis <gdavis@gis.net> To: idm@hyperreal.org CC: Hrvatski <sheket@tiac.net> Subject: (idm) Autechre studies i was going to actually mention the exact same track.there are actually three rhythmic layers happening at once at one point. Ae also do a similar technique on the first track of chiastic slide. i think its a very cool way to shift tempos without doing the obvious double time/half time thing. i actually brought in that gescom remix of PBO into a graduate composition class that im in and my teacher (and the students) really dug the track. we actually notated some of the rhythms on the board at the points where the tempos shift thru the common rhythm of the triplets. it was funny, we were studying autechre/gescom in a graduate comp. seminar. pretty cool. i turned on this one very straght classical composer to ep7 and big loada. he bought them and the next day he came up to me and was asking if i could suggest anything else for him to buy. just thought id share that story. idm reaches academia. now thats real idm for you. :) later, greg davis autumn records http://autumnrecords.cjb.net np: toru takemitsu-works for guitar
