directed to the guy who asked about Max Tundra since "Some Best Friend You Turned Out To Be" : Since that album, he's only had two other releases, both singles/eps/whatever you call those short releases. Ink Me (rug112cd on Domino) is a single for the track of the same name off "SBFYTOTB" and contains the video for the song. It's an amusing little thing where he sits in a room with a couple of grandparent-type people and plays the song for them on a phonograph. The first "B-Side" is "Tell It To My Heart," which is basically a guitar song, kind of post-rocky or folky or whatever. Nice, but not what I expected, which is also nice, but not exactly great. Um, that didn't make sense. Anyway, the other "B-Side" is called "Ignition" and it's, like, the opposite end of the spectrum from "Tell It To My Heart" - it's 1:21 and consists mainly of him playing around with clicky sounds. Sounds like an ignition. Basically, I guess I was disappointed by this release. After that he did a little EP called "QY20 Songs," which says it was "Invented and recorded by Ben Jacobs at the Electric Smile using the Yamaha QY20 Music Sequencer." It's all fast-paced and chaotic all the way through, more reminiscent of "Cakes" and parts of "SBFYTOTB". If you've heard the first track, "Doggy Biscuits" on Pitchcadet's "Cataract Beats" compilation, you kind of know what to expect, except that they mastered it at the wrong speed for the comp, so it's faster here. The other two tracks, "Rail Thali" and "Chimes Corner" are both shorter, and the length of the whole disc is less than ten minutes (10!). Too short for my money, but it's fun to listen to.
