Correct, Kim Cascone founded Silent Records. He was responsible for the
ambient project PGR which remains one of my favorite ambient acts. I believe
he stopped recording under PGR around 95-96 though.
Silent Records I think has since disappeared, and he runs the Anechoic Media
label/whatever. He is also the list administrator for the microsound list.
I've only heard select pieces from his newer work but it is usually severely
minimal DSP type stuff. The remix/reworking disc "Blue Cubism: Transcoded
Audio Structures" on Digital Narcis is pretty good, with makeovers of
Cascone tracks by Pita, V/VM, *0, Terre Thaemlitz, Dumb Type, and several
others. He also has a track featured on the new New Forms compilation on
Raster.
I would recommend Cascone's work to anyone interested in the more
experimental/glitchy side of microsound. (as if they weren't synonymous ;-)
