hope you're doing fine. just thought we'd drop you a mail about our
latest release, awkward 07, a split 7" for skanfrom and brioche
kretzaal, which is in the shops right now...

33.3 rpm 7" single limited to 500 copies is format
thefifthofmarchtwothousandandone (05.03.01) is release date
berlin's skanfrom offers up four tracks of classic retro electronica
in his own unique robot-music style. each of the four pieces shows
different views of skanfrom's world but fit together to form a jigsaw
of timeless melodic analogue simplicity.
brioche kretzaal's 'fukwit' shows a slightly different side to this
artist when compared to the other brioche tracks out there, being a
calm but clicky, gently bleepy and, most importantly, fun slice of
melody-heavy pop.
skanfrom's contribution to this single follows a number of other
releases including contributions to city centre offices' 'modern
supermarket music' compilation, the 'lo-fi electronic pop
compilation' 10" on irritant, split singles and a longplayer on
sendertechnik and, most notably, several limited offerings on his own
a.d.s.r. imprint, including joint releases with the likes of frederik
schikowski, b.i., phonem and others.
brioche kretzaal only releases tracks very occasionally and previous
projects have included contributions to the 'privileged frames for
reference ep' on v/vm with datathief and jega, and the 'assorted
pieces' 10" compilation on canada's suction label, with the classic
track 'hi / bye / why?'.
brioche comes from a long association with the manchester electronica
scene, being one half of the wickedly likeable datathief, who have
appeared on skam's '0161' compilation and also the recently repressed
split 12" with yunx on pitchcadet. brioche is also the bod who runs
the studio moo design company and therefore the brains behind a
number of the early skam records sleeve and label designs, including
their ultra-limited and now legendary 'mask' series and boards of
canada's 'hi scores' ep.
mr. kretzaal is a full-time computer game designer and is also
setting up his own label, 'device electronic entertainment' - one to
look out for in the future.
skanfrom continues with his ever anticipated and ongoing release
schedule, while we are told that this is likely to be the last
brioche kretzaal release ever!

just incase you didn't know... this was released in january 2001 and
is a split 7" for epic45 and 100 pets limited to just 500 copies.
definitely one for the post-rock / lo-fi / guitar-liking folks - go
get it.

awkward 05...
as reported previously, this is a split 7" for lowfish and schengen
and will be released in a few weeks' time (you will be told when it's
available, so panic not). as expected from these artists it's more
fresh-sounding electronic gorgeousness and a really strong sounding
release.
