O my god. If you're expecting Phoenecia to sound like Phoenecia anymore, think somewhere else! They've COMPLETELY and ENTIRELY reinvented themselves on Brownout. Hardly any low end at all, nothing "beaty" about it. Very minimal and clicky. VERY slow tempoes the whole way through. Reminds me of the early Silksaw stuff without any of the beats. Even though I'm not so familiar with their stuff, isn't Sutekh or Kit Clayton like this? Delarosa and Asora maybe? Definitely headphone/chin stroking stuff. Similar to their track on the Voices in My Lunchbox compilation without the vocals. Kinda too bad, 'cause it has been on more than one occasion where I've shaken my booty to some of their other releases. It's not a bad album, and I guess I give them credit for this complete 180 they've taken, I just had such high hopes after Odd Jobs and all of its grindy aggitated beats. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
