Congratulations to those at Delsin for their new compilation, ..going thru
life, which finally hit the shops here yesterday and has been revolving on
my cd platter ever since. (What a relief when it finally appeared, I have
been looking out for it every day for weeks). What a sublime compilation!
Beautiful, warm and soulful, with strong detroit sensibilities and the most
wonderful sense of nostalgia.
stephen@twoplayer sums it up far better than I can in the liner notes:
for me it started with colin dale, every week he'd play music like i'd never
heard before...i wanted more so saturday i'd head into London on the
train... beggars banquet, reckless, fatcat etc - that's where i'd buy the
records, every 12" abstract and full of soul, funk and emotion... red
planet, transmat, b12, likemind, fragile, a.r.t, rephlex, underground
resistance... off home clutching the records, talking music with friends,
dying to get them on the turntable... special times.... delsin know what
those times were like, you can feel it in their music. always abstract, the
past present and future, the soul funk and emotion... special music...
Myself, I am almost lost for words. All I can say is I cannot recommend this
release highly enough and that I will now do everything I can to lay my
hands on the entire Delsin back-catalogue.
Ross.
