the world of jake
this is the month of jake mandell! his new carpark release love songs for
machines
has been out for just a month and people are saying lots of nice things about
it. also
carpark is pleased to announce that we have a video for one of the album
tracks.
the kind people at superfun.net have created a video for "the prince and the
palm."
the video is currently available for viewing on the carpark website so check
it out!
jake also just played a show in his new home of berlin with richie devine and
smyglyssna. we hear it went really well and are glad that jake is keepin it
real in
germany.
be on the lookout in a couple weeks for a jake mandell appearance on the
keepitup.com website. there will be a fun little piece about him and a top
ten list.
we're hoping another carpark artist will make an appearance on the site after
jake!
you may or may not know that carpark also printed up posters for the new jake
mandell record. the attractive 11 x 17 inch poster mirrors the front cover
artwork.
if you are interested in obtaining a poster for your wall or significant
other, you can
send us a check for US$2 made payable to carpark inc. international orders

upcoming releases
the release schedule is getting busier at carpark. we've got jake's record
out, now
we are working on marumari's new one supermogadon! the record is just about
ready to send off to the plant. right now we are looking at a release date
of june
4th. we will let you know if this changes. marumari has been working on
this record
for about a year and we think it's his best yet! he's also putting together
a very
special music video for the record.
our man marumari just played a show in baltimore with his friends cex, SK,
and
diskette. we hear it was a stellar show. he also just played a show at
brandeis
university in boston with hrvatski and pan american which apparently got the
kids
dancing.
we're definitely shooting for a summer release on the kit clayton/safety
scissors ping
pong cd. we apologize for continuously pushing this one back, but that'll
make it
extra special when it comes out right? trust us...
and we're shooting for a fall release on the super secret safety scissors
project....
dinky is hard at work on her carpark release. details are still sketchy, but
we hear
she has a couple of tracks completed. we will let you know more soon. in
the
meantime you can check out her new 12" on traum entitled "valparaiso."
so takahashi and carpark are also in the early stages of planning a new
release.
sadly it is too early to let you know exactly what the nature of this project
is. the so
takahashi 12" is now out of print, though we have plans to repress it in the
next
month or so in a slighty altered version. as usual, we'll let you know
exactly what we
mean when we can. you also might be interested to know that so takahashi
will have
a track on an upcoming sub rosa/quatermass compilation of japanese artists.
artists
slated to be on compilation are merzbow, sachiko M, otomo yoshihide, as well
as
others. it should be available in april.
and of course we have lots of other things in the air which we will let you
know
about in due time...
live carpark
safety scissors is going to be in new york this week. taking a short respite
from his
current berlin base, safety scissors will be making some select appearance in
the nyc
area. he also has a date in switzerland. here are the confirmed dates:
March 8 -Put On A Happy Face at Filter 14, 875 Washington NYC
March13- Drinkland, 10th street between avenue a and b NYC
March 17- Zurich, Switzerland
we are also planning a marumari/cex tour for the summer! it should be one of
the
events of the summer no doubt. if you are interested in setting up a show
with these
guys please let us know. it doesn't matter where you are. these guys wanna
play!
find out why audiences are stripping down to their skivvies! the fun should
start in
july.
until next time, take care!
best,
todd
