Yeah, the Seattle thing prompted me to ask - has anyone had trouble with losing their records in any of the last decade's major quakes? (Northridge and Loma Prieta especially come to mind.) This isn't an idle query: I live in San Francisco, have two 6-foot high shelves stacked with records, and I'm guessing that in a major quake they could easily topple. Not sure what the solution is - bolting them to the wall, maybe, but God knows how I'd manage that. philip sherburne * business solutions * ask jeeves 5 1 0 - 9 8 5 - 7 8 8 5 w * 5 1 0 - 6 0 4 - 5 4 7 4 m --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Unfortunately, back in 1996, an enormous gas explosion destroyed the building I was inhabiting. It was more like being bombed and the walls collapsed, I lost around 4 000 records outta 8 / 9000... not mentioning all my books, fanzines, souvenirs... I managed to save some and ironed and glued back tons of vinyl covers. The one which suffered less were protected by a plastic cover. philippe ************************************************************** http://www.bip-hop.com unconventional sound adventures, adventurous & creative electronica... ************************************************************** TENNIS : europe on horseback [bleep 03] out in April TENNIS is Benge and Si-{cut}.db.
