While it's not quite an IDM show, I'd encourage you
to check out Ruins
at Knitting Factory on the 14th. You've never heard
a sound so BIG
come out of a 2 man band. If you like Boredoms or
Melt Banana, you'll
most likely be a huge Ruins fan. I'm getting
excited about the show
just thinking about it now. I saw them last year
and it was one of the
best shows I've ever been to.
anyone interested in the Ruins might enjoy checking those out...

RONRUINS : ketsunoana (PAN 026)
After two shows in San Francisco the legendary RUINS decided to start a
new band along with their long time friend RON Anderson. "Ketsunoana"
is the now living proof of their genuine talent, not just an experience,
but a totally new super group aiming to release other records, and play
live.
RUINS/MOLECULES/ALBOTH!/BELLY BUTTON/MUG (PAN 024)
The RUINS have probably released 14 albums, 4 EPs, collaborated with
Derek Bailey,
Jason Willet, Ron Anderson... Prog no-Rock drum & bass at its best.
The MOLECULES describe their sound as "No-Fi"...paradoxical,
uncompromising, brutal, tight odd time structures one moment, noise
improvisations the next...
ALBOTH! combine bizarre piano-riffs, distorted bass, heavy drums, odd
computer beats and strange samples creating a radical music which
combines the healthy energy of Rock with the intellectual power of score
based tracks, backed with the expressive attitude of Free...
MUG did a double EP, appeared on two compilations, and were invited by
John Peel to record a Peel Session. It is the side-project of art-brut
weirdos from Le Dernier Cri, with Tony Kenedy who also plays bass in
Badgewearer from Scotland.
BELLY BUTTON did two CDs and have often been compared to No Means No,
Ruins, Sabot, and some other drum & bass only gangs.
MELT BANANA/CAMP BLACKFOOT/TEAR OFF A DOLL/GOD IS MY CO-PILOT (PAN 036)
4 exclusive tracks by 4 amazing acts. Japan vs. U.K. vs. Paris vs.
New-York
MELT BANANA, from Tokyo, are hardworking musicians, touring endlessly
and giving us the most refreshing and fastest Noiserock of today.
CAMP BLACKFOOT want to take the structure of rock as far as possible,
but to infuse it with the energy, aggression, and emotional force of
early 80s hardcore bands like Black Flag and the Misfits.
TEAR OFF A DOLL keeps experimenting various instruments mixed with
computer technology, aiming to try new experiments in sound.
GOD IS MY CO-PILOT who, since 1991, released many records and played
all over the world with countless musicians.
