I've had this CD for quite sometime and I've failed to mention my recommendation. A lot of the retro-electro that's come out over the past few years has really tired me. However once in a while things grab my attention. It has quite a roster of talent, so you're sure it's release worth checking out. here's the description I found on skimo's email: V/A : Commodore C-64: C-Sid Musique CD (ERKRANKUNG DURCH MUSIQUE) $12.99 "Erkrankung Durch Musique is a label for contemporary electronic music. Especially it´s about picking up and processing musical history from the late seventies to the early eighties, as well as their technological developments (Punk, New Wave, Electro, Industrial...) , and developments in electronic music (drum-machines, synthesizer, etc.)." Features tracks by Bassdroid, Caltrop, G. Geluxxe (Gerhard Potuznik), Steril, Maru + Comix, Hans Platzgumer, 8-bit Orchestra (Tim Koch), Computer Rockers (EDMX), Diska, Mix Mup, Error 23. A well sequenced record of devestating electroid crunch in tribute/emulation of the 1982-introduced gamers haven, the Commodore 64 computer "Anything that separates us is junk. Speaking of which, has anybody tried to transfer the "LP ROM" track from the Endorphins 12" that can allegedly be loaded into a C-64 (presumably via cassette)? -rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

hmmm, sounds interesting. so, the track is just raw c64 data that's been recorded to an LP? reminds me of some of my early experiences with my first "computer", a TI/994a, circa 1983. all i had for storage were cassettes, and whenever you saved/loaded a file, you heard the data played back through the cassette deck's speaker. i remember it actually sounded pretty decent, although fairly similar to the ping&noise of any modem. it's just nice to see that even though i didn't have any good records or radio stations to listen to when i was a kid, there were other musical outlets available. :) ethan ps - i don't know how good the error correction techology is in a c64 cassette deck and file format, but i'm guessing that there would be too many pops on an LP to successfully transfer the file. still a neat concept. does the track just sound like data, or does it have "musical" elements? --- Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 15:33:08 -0500 (EST) To: idm@hyperreal.org From: "R.
