The conference itself is a load of over-priced bollocks (I've heard better
advice from drunks down the pub) The infamous poolside at the hotel is the most
outrageous display of self congratulatory back-slapping & ego massaging
imaginable. If you are promoting a label or yourself you *might* make some
contacts.... but you may also get to see the business up close and personal and
decide you want nothing to do with it
In answer to your question - they did have the option to pay in to single shows
(in 1999) but its unlikely you'll get in. - the venues tend to be tiny, they
have enormous guestlists and if you attend the conference & pay and get a badge
that supposedly gives you preference to get in over cash paying public..
If you are a really convincing liar / actor you can spoof your way into every
show by pretending to be someone from either a music magazine and/or some indie
dance arm of a major label.

Yes that's what they are, some smaller shows are a little more, but generally
you'll be lucky to see more than 20 minutes of anyone...
