somebody asked about chicago area record shops... i think they mentioned they were looking for the jazzy side of things? anyway, sorry if this one was already mentioned: "dustygroove" on milwaukee; right at the milwaukee/ashland/division intersection in wicker park (just around the corner from my apt!). more info on this at: http://www.dustygroove.com/ they're only open on weekends... sat & sunday. there's also the other "reckless records", also on milwaukee, sort of near the north/damen/milwaukee hub. although i've never found them to have a good selection in new electronic stuff, they get a pretty high volume of used stuff, so routinely going through their "new used" bin occasionally yields a gem. also, i haven't checked it out yet, but a friend tells me a new shop just opened up across from jinx cafe on division (just east of division/damen) that carries (primarily) electronic/experimental type stuff. AND, i have a bunch of old jazz records that i might sell as a cheap package deal. plus, i'll throw in a copy of doug E. fresh & the get fresh crew's "worlds greatest entertainer". a whole bunch of old punk records too, that my sister-in-law gave me to liquidate for her... actually... am i getting too off topic now? anyway, if you (the original post-er or whoever) are interested in buying a stack of old jazz/punk/random records at a cutrate, contact me. jon __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yo Jon, What Jazz records you pushin? In addition to the shops he mentions, there is another Reckless location farther north - on Broadway at Belmont - that is quite a bit bigger and I think noticably better. Especially if you're looking for jazz. Also important to note for jazz is Jazz Record Mart (http://www.jazzmart.com/jrm.home.htm) - they'll have everything you're looking for - from King Oliver to Evan Parker - it's a very big store. If you're looking for vinyl or even just browsing with an interest in jazz, give yourself a few hours - I've found there's no such thing as a quick trip to JRM. (I think I remember the original poster being interested in jazz; if not, my apologies). Matt At 04:15 PM 2/10/01 -0800, jon anderson wrote:
