Question: Have you ever A/B'd different cartridges/needles to hear if one set is superior to another? I've been wrestling with what carts to get for a while now and still have no clue. I was using stanton 680s, which were great, moved to Groovemaster IIs, which were fine, but I didn't like their ergonomics. Sold the GMIIs, and now I'm running the 680s again. At this point I'm wondering: a) Should I just get new needles for the 680s b) Pick up a pair of ortofon OMs Pros (same as concorde) c) get a pair of Shure M35 X's d) go nuts and get stanton 681s I do mix (backcueing, but no scratching) beaty music, but I'm more concerned with a great sounding cartridge than superior tracking. (that mounts on a standard technics headshell - I'm not looking for anything "audiophile" ) I can site you all the specs in the world regarding the differences between the products, but I really want some first (or second) hand experience on sound quality.
