Not a bad lineup on this one...solvent, lexaunculpt, to rococo rot, phonem, isan, geiom, pole, arovane, styrofoam, etc etc etc...17 tracks of fun stuff. Glitch and pop mostly, and though this doesn't do much for me, there are some standout tracks. I dig melodies, so some of this stuff isn't really for me. The arovane track is good...not his best, but arovane is always good depth if you listen for it. The first half of this album is lackluster, at best...the frederik schokowski track "station breslauer strasse" being the exception. Deep, warm electronics that remind me of northern europe for some reason...maybe it's the title, but this feels like kraftwerk twenty-five years on. Halfway through is a great offering by Dynamo that gives you a taste of what's to come...I'm going to be looking for more dynamo soonly if this is representative of his work. The second half rocks on. Isan, geiom, pole...The pole track is unremarkable, but good dub. The highlight though, and I can't wait to get to it, is styrofoam's "cashier escape song"...now I've got The Point Misser, so I'm well acquainted with the beauty that is this guy. But damn, this is one of the best tracks I've heard in a long time. Probably HIS best, as well. Melancholy and beautiful in a way that makes me think of old girlfriends with fondness. Some glitchy stuff in here, but the melodies are great and you really get a feeling of depth with this one. The Roger van Lunteren track "n-2097" is a soft and gentle follow-up and the last real track on the disk. Good melodies and some warm electronics to set a perfect mood for 2am, sitting in the dark, pondering your navel. If you're up for such things. I expected more from the names I've heard before on this one, but the Styrofoam track makes this a keeper and the others I mentioned make this a great comp. Probably the best I've purchased in a long time. On City Centre Offices. ---brian ------------------------ Brian W.
