Wow, this is pretty much exactly the opposite of my experiences with SND. Well, no, not quite, I have the 'newtables' 12" and really like it. However, I thought 'makesnd cassette' and the subsequent releases up to 'stdio' were really boring. I was wishing they'd "evolve a bit and tackle slightly different territory", when along came 'stdio' and my prayers were answered. I hear much more happening in these tracks than in 'makensd cassette'... even piano-like melodies are present, but in a very SND way. It does really surprise me that people felt like SND need to go somewhere new as I think this is exactly what they've done! Michael np.
