Hey, My friend has just uploaded an mp3 of one of his tracks. His stuff is amazing, and I suggest you check it out. This track (Glass Whistled Shatter) is from his forthcoming album that he is currently wrapping up called 'Die Hautfabrik'. It is truly some of the best music that I listen to. If you'd like to contact him, email szam@morior.com http://www.morior.com/sound/glass_whistled_shatter.htm Thanks for your time, now go download! -Matt- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

dark downtempo tune in 7/8. some of the harmonic content makes me cringe but the very pretty piano makes up for that. nice rhythmic content also although the sound design could be better (especially the 80's sounding snare at 2:25, but also the drum sounds in general). the last piano loop sounds a little off. almost triplets but its a little slow i think? nice reverse cello sound towards the end although the 2nd note definitely strikes me as "wrong." (whatever that means) the song changes enough to retain interest although meanders a bit. but still, a recommended listen. -jonah ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matt Anderson" <matt@konstruktiv.net>

I'd say 7/4 but who's counting ...

too weepy-minor or what? it has a bit of that downwards minor progression that was in every slowdive song, but I thought he mixed it up enough to make it work. I was ready to strangle that slowdive guy after listening to Souvlaki in one sitting.

Well...don't necesarily agree there about sound design in general -- there's a lot of nattering noises built up in an interesting sort of soundscape, and industrial grating noises mixed low. For my taste though, he needs to either use a much better piano sound, or a much more artificial sound instead. The pianos sounded best when he processed the crap out of them. They sounded kind of "sound card-y" when you can hear them clearly.

Again it's not necessarily on rhythmically but I like things to get occasionally messy, and that business comes in just when I'm tired of all those hard quantized piano parts.

Again I kind of liked that to contrast with the straightness of the rest of the harmony. But then I always was into the "wrong is right" aesthetic. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
