the morr music comp has like 3 tracks on it that stand out from the rest, and everything else is completely interchangable. / / / I wouldn't say that because i think that Morr has managed to establish a strong identity. On "putting the morr back into morrissey", I like the songs by Phonem, Arovane, Fleischmann, Styrofoam, and Christian Kleine solo is totally amazing on it. Schneider Tm reworking lali puna is good, and the part of remixes is a good idea with some strong moments in it : tied & tickled trio, notwist, flowchart, isan, fleischmann, arovane... I could daresay that comps like the one on Merck can be described as "interchangeable" (i do not mean i dislike this comp mind you) but I wouldn't say that about the Morr double disc. So you may not like it but I do not agree with the word "interchangeable" and I do not think that every songs on it sound the same. philippe ************************************************************** http://www.bip-hop.com unconventional sound adventures, adventurous & creative electronica... ************************************************************** BiP-HOp Generation v.1 MARUMARI / SCHNEIDER TM / PHONEM / GOEM / ULTRA MILKMAIDS / MASSIMO BiP-HOp Generation v. 2 AROVANE / BERNARD FLEISCHMANN / WARMDESK / KÖHN / WANG INC. / LAURENT PERNICE Bip-Hop is a label devoted to spread unconventional sound adventures, adventurous & creative electronica... sounds, based on machines, mix, modulations, modifications, sampling, glitches, clicks & cuts... blip... bleep... bip... naw, i guess i wouldn't say interchangeable either ... i was exaggerating to make a point ... really i like the first disk quite a bit, the second drags pretty badly imho. i like the comp, but i think that the universal praise that met it was a little more than it deserved, mostly because nothing else came out that was really groundbreaking in 2000. tangentially melodically related yuppie idm trainspotting moment: caught a snippet of Bola's "Forcasa" on NPR's Morning Edition yesterday as an interstitial. just thought i should share. :) -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Wed, 10 Jan 2001, philippe petit wrote:
