I was up at borders the other day with a left over christmas gift
certificate, searching through the dance section for something to buy. I
passed over speedy j, and a few others when my eye caught a cd that had
a reference to metamatics on the front. I had heard in passing of norken
and picked it up out of curiousity and have to say i've very pleasantly
surprised.
It seems to me that i've heard a lot of idm work that fuses idm
style rythms with various musical styles, i've heard it done with jazz
and hardcore metal, applied to different electronic styles etc. The
first time i listened to the album i didn't really get it, i heard some
of the beats which sounded quite housy and ended up leaving it with a
friend on accident. I got it back the other day and was quite surprised
to found what i can only describe as idm style melodic structure (or not
idm, so much as more complex than standard dance etc.) fused with 4/4
dance beats. I think this is extremely cool, and find the album growing
on me more every time i listen to it. Definately one to pick up....
