just picked this up last week. it's a not-bad updating of raincry (though i still prefer the original for its mood). the koma & bones side preserves the lovely wail of the original and toughs it up with a really sharp breakbeat, punctuated by that mean grinding bass sound favored by jungle records. the other side has a punchier, housier remix that's ok but not as pleasing to my ears. i mostly bought it out of fond nostalgia for the original, but i do like the koma & bones side. haven't heard much of the 'nubreaks' stuff, but have a friend who's right in there and has been feeding me a few choice bits now and again. so far, so good. in other news, folks in seattle would do well to check out the new location of beats international. they've moved a block down, to the corner of denny & olive, and the new space is fantastic. no more balancing on one foot and leaning against full bins to get to the electro and 'experimental' piles in the corner. :) there are also half a dozen listening stations now, instead of 2 in the middle of the crush. big improvements. s. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
