I've kinda been burned by Tangerine Dream too, there are things to get and things not to get. The one that I can say that I've enjoyed the most is Phaedra, lots of analogue synth action going on :)! speaking of tangerine dream, I recently picked up "Force Majeure" out of curiousity. I'm finding it a bit difficult to get past the wailing guitars and their synthesized equivalents, however... Can anyone recommend something a bit more artificial by them?

Not too sure what you mean by artificial, but - Oh goodness ! Scratching away the cobwebs of the past ... I really enjoy Phaedra as well, are there any more albums similar too that one, i'v found a lot of tangarine dream difficult to listen to as well... Most of their 70s stuff is either obscure (kinda boring, imo) ambient stuff, but a lot of it is like Phaedra, as well. I'd avoid everything they've done during the 90s, as it tends to have long and rather unpleasant guitar solos. TD are definetly hit and miss, ditto with Froese's solo stuff. I bought this "AMBIENT" box set put out by Virgin, which came with Klaus Schulze's "Timewinds", Edgar Froese's "Aqua", and Ashra's "Blackouts". The Schulze was good enough to keep, but sounds kinda dated. The Froese album grated on me, so I sold it. But Ashra's "Blackouts" I was mesmerized by. Anyone else heard this? Cray swirling psychedelic guitar with lots of effects (complex layering ala Robert Fripp), with ample analog synth experiments and internal processing. I'd love to find more stuff along these lines. It has the same wonderful warmth of Laraaji's "Ambient 3".
