Well, I think Aphex is definitely more of an exception, but I'm sure some of his stuff has reached the 100,000 mark, at least. I don't think he'd be able to make videos like "Come To Daddy" and "Windowlicker" if he didn't have some serious backing from his label. I remember seeing an interview with him where he said he was "loaded" and I don't think he was refering to alcohol or drug intake. I imagine BOC do well also. They have a lot of appeal with the indie rock crowd.

Yeah, they're pretty damn popular. I'd recommend these things from their catalogue if you're interested in checking out their stuff: Black Angels & Morton Feldman - Piano & String Quartet Personally I prefer the Arditti String Quartet for contemporary works. Those guys wouldn't even think of getting involved with any superficial, crossover nonsense. They rock, man ! this is correct.. RDJ sells LOADS of records.. c'mon! wake up.. it's not just us IDM kids.. aphex has always been playedin the UK on shows like the evening session, which means appealing to the indie kids, but also you've got the entire spectrum of dance music who respect RDJ for being 'different' or 'weird' or whatever.. this guy is a genius and it frequently amazes me how many people have stuff like selected ambient works in their record collections.. and these are people who just listen to moby or whatever.. didn't windowlicker get to like number 3 in the UK singles chart or something silly ? but then we all know u dont make much cash on singles..it's the albums that count.

Yeah, these are very good ones. Also check out the Schnittke String Quartets, which are fabulous pieces. Very strongly recommended. I won't comment on the rest of the post... Well, when it comes to Aphex, his most commercially successful release was Come To Daddy, which WARP and Sire to this day make a fortune off it. A Sire exec told me that Windowlicker (in sept 99, 5 months after release) was moving 200 units per week. I'd venture to guess they sell quite a bit.
