I like his collab with BoC. Seems playful, interesting, well done. Is there a must-get release by him? and if there's any guideline to go by, i don't usually tend to like uninspired, generic idm. cases in point: thug - isolated rhythm chock or cim - reference. however i am a sucker for well crafted catchy tunes (such as l'usine). suggest away. fred np: across the cell wall comp (is it just me or did i miss any mention of this at all on the list???? mostly abstract digital compositions, recommended) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

heh, as josh has said himself, these "collaborations" were just tracks he made that a friend renamed and put on napster for fun :-) as far as must-get releases, i've heard lots of good things but haven't picked up anything yet. although last night i ordered "wolves hollow" (hooray for cdnow coupons!). from what i've heard it's a little better than his "ballad of the round ball" release, although i personally haven't heard either. but from the mp3's labelled as "collaborations", it sounds like marumari's work is quite nice. i'm anxious for my copy to arrive :D cheers, ;derek - - - - - Alice could not help her lips curing up into a smile as she began: "Do you know, I always thought Unicorns were fabulous monsters, too! I never saw one alive before!" "Well, now that we HAVE seen each other," said the Unicorn, "if you'll believe in me, I'll believe in you. Is that a bargain?" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yes. _The Wolves' Hollow_ (Carpark). A very solid and quality release. Nice album art, too, for those who want more bang for their buck.

Hmm. Tastes sure do differ. I absolutely cherish the CiM _Reference_ lp and lots of other melodic 313 stuff (re: the "new" Detroit Escalator Company) but the L'Usine (ISO011) left me a little underwhelmed. Nice use of a gaggle of sounds, but the constructs they built seemed less than the sum of their parts. But then again, that's my complaint about a lot of music I hear ... That having been said, the new Fizzarum 12" on the Domino Series 500 is very nice. I've yet to pick up their full-length on Domino, though. And for some reason last week, I dug out my copy of Ian O'Brien's _Desert Scores_. I still adore that album (how can you not when he sends a shout out to Mike Banks?) - how was Ian's comp for Abstract Funk Theory? i.e. - a tracklisting? I can't seem to find it (album or tracklisting) anywheres. Thanks! J np: Archie Shepp _Four for Trane_ (Impulse) "You should dream more, Mr. Wormold.
