I believe the opposite was the case. Kraftwerk were criticised for glamorising nuclear
power, or at least not explicitly condemning it. The later version on The Mix adds some
lines about "chain reaction and mutation, contaminated population" and references to
Chernobyl and Hiroshima (and cunningly inserts the word "stop" in front of each
"Radioactivity"), turning it into an anti-nuclear tirade, which presumably was intended
to clarify the band's stance, but dilutes the beauty of the track somewhat (as is
generally the effect of hollow sloganeering for the sake of political brownie points). I
believe they played some anti-nuclear benefits with U2 (those masters of empty political
sentiment) around the same time.
