Thanks Wálter, great list, and a bunch of stuff I had not heard of before. Many of them are more EBM / hard-rockin' than I had in mind but the synth sounds and atmospheres are great. Lots of stuff to explore. --eric On Nov 11, 2015, at 2:50 PM, Wálter MV <blackfiremaster@gmail.com> wrote:

Don't recall seeing them mentioned so far, but the "Drum and Bass" compilation series on Breakdown Records (esp. the first 2) and the Jungle Tekno series on Jumpin' and Pumpin" could be of interest. If you want something on the atmospheric tip, try the "Artcore" series on React. Some of the other comps mentioned so far were sign posts for my initial exploration of jungle/drum and bass 20 years ago. Clint Anderson wrote:

To me the examples you posted are pretty different sounds. The first one is more jungle/ragga/riddim, my fav compilation on that tip is http://www.discogs.com/Various-Toasted-Massive-Ragga-Jungle/master/48556 especially that opener! it still hits hard as hell today. The second is more ily the horrendously-named "intelligent dn'b" style, of which LTJ Bukem is probably the biggest name (and therefore largely to blame for how awful/cheezy it went, roit?) And there's tons of that stuff on Good Looking records, some Ninja Tune, etc but for me "Logical Progression" was the entry point http://www.discogs.com/LTJ-Bukem-Logical-Progression/master/32062 SOoooO yeah. Some time ago I heard some Tech Inch stuff that was really impressive. Just really taut and stripped down with really detailed editing and clean upfront drum hits. Almost breakcore ish. Everything I've heard from him since has been kinda wack (IMO) industrial tech step along the lines of Position Chrome releases or something. Anyone know which ones are of the former sound?

Wishing I hadn't sold all this shit back in the day.   - Eric Sorenson - N45.569, W122.763 - http://twitter.com/ahpook - On Fri, 13 Nov 2015, nat hawks wrote:
