Apologies for doing this, but I want to take time to answer all the
questions some of you had about Koo's Cafe in one big public e-mail....

FIRST THINGS FIRST, MERCHANDISE?
Cool wit me and cool wit Koo's. There's an area by the side door of the
main room where folks can set up and sell stuff.
VISUALS?
There'll be a video projector projecting all sorts of silly stuff (I lost
my tape of really cool mathematical visuals, but find my Mindbenders
compilations... heh heh), but mainly films and excerpts thereof of the
work of Brothers Quay and Jan Svankmajer during the Lexaunculpt and
Phthalo live sets specifically.
PARKING?
Despite the signs everywhere saying "Will Tow at Midnight", that hasn't
happened in over two years. But, if I can help it, the event will end
before midnight anyway. (Jesus shitballs, it's a *school* night, for the
sake of crimony!)
ATMOSPHERE?
The performance/DJ room is small and colorful, but there are open spaces
outside to chill (like the graffiti wall), if you have some
claustrophobia/crowds issues.
HERBAL ENHANCEMENT?
Seek enhancement, but far away from the venue. Koo's has a no
drugs/alcohol policy, and that's not just because of all the
anarcho-political straight edge bands that play there. :) Koo's
is strictly volunteer-run and survives on cover and public grants (and
maybe one day, Hugh Grant) One little drug incident can get the place
shut down. Plus, ever since Koo's won a lawsuit against the Santa Ana
Police Department for unfair ticketing practices a couple of years ago, it
seems like the SAPD has been begging to peg Koo's with something legit.
