Dear All, I have recently purchased Vibert/Simmonds 'Weirs' album on AFX's Rephlex label after one of the cool guys at Warp recommended it to me. I really like it a lot but don't know too much about it except : - It's on Rephlex so it's top quality 'braindance'. - One of the members of obviously Luke Vibert and the other is Jeremey Simmonds who I am not too aware of. - It's relatively old (1993) but still sounds ace. Can anyone out there tell me more about the album / project and other projects that Jeremy Simmonds has since been involved in??? Any other info about this release? I am sure that somewhere out on the web all of this information is gathered already but I would prefer to hear from the personal opinions of someone on this IDM list. Anyway, the Rephlex site didn't tell me much about it! Any help would be ace.....cheers! Ian F. ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yes this album is damn fine. The story behind it, as far as I know, is that it was recorded very early on in like '91 or some time around then. Luke wanted it to be the first rephlex release but it was delayed a couple of years. Apparently it was all recorded on a 4-track tape recorder. 'thing bounces back' has to be an all time favourite of mine. I've only recently found 'sunset boulevard' on napster and to my utter joy it is in a very similar style to 'weirs'. If I am not mistaken, Jeremy Simmonds was a member of Bark Psychosis, Graham Sutton's band before becoming Boymerang. Graham himself also collaborated with Vibert on Plug's "Me and Mr. Jones" (aka the "Me and Mr. Suttom" EP on Blue Planet). -Mike --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
