well i picked up the new Sade cd today. listening to it, i wasn't overly
impressed. her voice is of course wonderful, but the songs and the music
is rather bland. so i started thinking about how it could be better, and
realized a downtempo/minimal IDM-ish thing would be great, but not the
portishead, massive attack kinda thing. more like aphex twin at half speed
or something.
so has this ever been done? good downtempo IDM? i think it would be nice
to have a cd with smooth hip hop sort of grooves and weird sounds and
effects. vocals would be great too. and please note the distinction
between trip-hop and what im trying to imagine. i'm thinking more along the
lines of weird slow electronics than glitchiness or sampling. basicaly
just like a really mellow autechre.
and if i find no one does this, then by god i thought of it first and you
can't copy me until after im famous for creating a sub-genre of IDM.
