I was looking at the promo I recently received for the mediocre new Juno Reactor EP, "Pistolero" (a collaboration with Steve Stevens, Billy Idol's guitarist... no, really...) and I noticed something sort of odd: The "Hang 'em High" mix, which is credited to Fluke in the track listing, is given a further credit of "Edited by Scourge of the Earth" in the liner notes. And Scourge of the Earth is the name now used for Jimmy Cauty of KLF for his remix jobs. I guess it sort of makes sense due to the Juno Reactor/Orb and Orb/KLF connections. I just found it strange that Cauty's credit would be somewhat buried, and that it only applies to the Fluke mix. Anyway, I've always thought that Juno Reactor was pretty crap aside from that one great dark ambient album they did with Alex Patterson. And this single doesn't do much to change that opinion. aHah! Now that starts making sense. A music journo friend of mine received two CD-EP's sometime last year of Pistolero and passed them on to me. Just checked : '99 on Blue Room Released. (Why are you only being promo'd with this NOW?) The cover features a sort of crazy gloved hand clutching a pistol - duh, pistolero! - on a female figure standing in the desert holding a gun. Of the 6 versions, the only one I've ever bothered playing out (and it meets with dancefloor success) is the Fluke / Hang 'em High mix. I should add that Cape Town boasts a huge trance/tribal/hippy- friendy crowd :-) I see that the engineering credits are shared by 3 people, among whom also Greg Hunter (who himself released a full-length on Blue Room about a year ago too). He's got some Orb connections as well, if I recall? I * "Imagination - use it as a weapon" - from Juno's Beyond the Infinite cover --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The album (Shango) has just been released in the US, with the single due out in a couple of weeks. Oddly, they've been released by Metropolis, a label better known for releasing industrial and goth stuff.
