'k Idm-ers
It's been a few months i wanted to mention this album and given all of the
sound advices streaming these days, i think i'm right on time.
Once-bitten-twice-shy by records that won't stand the test of time (nor
even the full length itself), i almost don't buy full physical albums
anymore but made an exception with this one — had to buy the CD from *Amazon
Japan *but if interested, you may buy separate tracks from *JunoDownload*,
where i found it out.
Even though this is a totally approachable album, *Kicoel *is an
uncompromising one, as it only seems to play some pretty pure tones — i.e.
sinewaves and noise.
It all begins and ends in some whirl of friendly yet abstract and hypnotic
FM-ish bleeps, some being catchier than others (despite appearances and
economy of means, this is a contrasting album), like if *Raster Noton *went
melancholic.
It sounds like some digital fairyland of fluid yet diffracted bubbly cycles
that you could easily offer to your nephew just as you might enjoy
listening to from bed, half-slept with your girl, boyfriend or cat.
Although very different, it reminds me one of my favorite «IDM» albums ever
: *Decoding the hacker myth* from *Alter Ego*.
Now here's the official sampler :
