had taken it off the original pressings. I believe when Capitol/EMI released it on CD, it was the first time most Americans heard it, unless you bought the import or the RARITIES album.

we hear the infamous final pound of the three pianos. As it fades, normally the needle would go to the center and that's it. However, everyone outside of the U.S. heard something different. For five seconds you hear a high pitched sound, only clearly audible to dogs (said to be put there for Paul's dog, Martha, as in "Martha My Dear"). Immediately it goes into three seconds of laughter, chatter, and complete nonsense. At this point, the needle goes into the center of the record, and depending on your turntable, it stays there and the sound would be looped, forever, until you take the needle off.

record that would have a stormtropper voice say something over and over, and I have a Colorado Crew double 7" that would just say "donut crew... donut crew... donut crew".

Yea, that's still pretty popular. I ended my first record with a gabber lockgroove because the thought of people sitting there taking like ten minutes to figure it out amuses me. Sure enough, I know of three people who have done this already... -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@curiousnetworks.com http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

mouse on mars also did this on their "pickly dried rhizzoms" 12" (which, imo, is a stellar release). only instead of a lock groove with sound, the lock groove is right after the lock groove. as in you gotta move the needle back to it. it's just some random noise afaik, and they try to disguise it by etching an ultrasquiggly "groove" inside said lock groove :) one of tino's breaks 12" also has a lock groove stuck on someone screaming (luckily mr. dangers lowered the volume :) ) speaking of tino's breaks, has anyone gotten their hands on Dub, or know where i can find Dub or Xmas (the repress?) cheers, derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
