actually, i think the digest is for the non-reader. after being on the
digest for over a year and a half, and essentially being in lurk, i
transferred over to "normal", and the list has been much more active for
me. not only can i contribute (which i'm sure some of you are upset over),
but i can also read the list much more effectively. rather than waiting to
get a digest that i skim through and delete, i get individual emails, that
i can keep if they have some really good info, or delete after scanning
through them.
on digest, i was stuck scrolling past lists of fav live bands, lists of now
playing, and radio sets - things that don't particularly interest me. the
discussions were usually spread apart over a couple days, harder to follow
than the emails due to the formatting, and i couldn't respond.
plus, although i get, perhaps, 100 emails from this list per day, i check
my email more than once every week - and when i haven't checked my email in
4 days, due to a vacation, i've only had like 300-400 messages anyways, and
that's not too bad; it's just text.
i say that for those interested in trying out digest - don't bother. it's
nice, but "normal" is much easier to follow, delete, and use.

besides, i don't usually read lance's emails. he's full of great
information that's helpful to a lot of people, but i'm not particularly
interested in tracklistings and label info. i like his reviews, although
he seems to like everything :)
