Actually, Silent Records in SF did an American release of it on CD, I don't know how long ago. I picked up one of the two copies I saw, and it was just last year sitting new in a store in Pomona, CA. Hope I'm not letting some super-secret cat out of the bag, but I have to tell other people how to hear those Lego Feet tracks. I'm a sucker for 'em, can't explain why exactly. shit, i got my copy from border's outlet for like 5$, you people need to be more resourceful, instead of goin to ebay, which is like walking into a gucci store, settle for a copy, mp3, or look in those hard to find clusterfucked shelves at your local border's books and music outlet. maybe im lucky but i've found alot of really good stuff there for incredibly cheap. why would you pay some schmuck $$$$ for something he got lucky in the first place for buying? that money isnt even seen by the artists, they already made their cut. well, its just a thought and thoughts change so dont take me too seriously. i just think that a "limited" release means that the "owners" of the originals need to make copies for those out there that dont have it and want it. shit, trade for it. to those kids waitin on yer ae and datathief from detroit, its almost done. thanks for your patience. ryan phonotype@aol.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I'm looking at like 4 copies of it (skampler) for sale at www.gemm.com for prices ranging from $6.00 to $18.00 and up. People, USE GEMM.COM! It's a really sweet resource for finding almost anything music-wise. If you pay 50 bucks for it on eBay, well...shame on you. :) my .02 cents for today, -somrux. -----Original Message----- From: Phonotype@aol.com [mailto:Phonotype@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, September 26, 2001 8:57 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: [idm] skampler shit, i got my copy from border's outlet for like 5$, you people need to be more resourceful, instead of goin to ebay, which is like walking into a gucci store, settle for a copy, mp3, or look in those hard to find clusterfucked shelves at your local border's books and music outlet. maybe im lucky but i've found alot of really good stuff there for incredibly cheap. why would you pay some schmuck $$$$ for something he got lucky in the first place for buying? that money isnt even seen by the artists, they already made their cut. well, its just a thought and thoughts change so dont take me too seriously. i just think that a "limited" release means that the "owners" of the originals need to make copies for those out there that dont have it and want it. shit, trade for it. to those kids waitin on yer ae and datathief from detroit, its almost done. thanks for your patience. ryan phonotype@aol.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It can also be horribly unreliable. Since it's not a regular on-line store, but more like a centralized "clearing house" for a whole bunch of shops who aren't always great at updating thier databases, you'll often find rarities listed that haven't been available for years. I'm not saying that you WON'T find a copy of Skampler available there. But just because there are 4 copies listed for sale on GEMM.com doesn't meant that any or all of those copies are really available. --- Greg Clow - greg@stainedproductions.com - greg@feedbackmonitor.com concert & event promotions - http://www.stainedproductions.com electronic music radio/reviews/interviews - http://www.feedbackmonitor.com 158 Close Ave. 2nd Floor - Toronto, Ontario M6K 2V5 - Canada --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

One of the sources on gemm I contacted, and they said that if they didn't have it in stock, they could get it within a week. The point being that even if it's not in stock, 90% of the time it can still be ordered. Shipment may take a couple of weeks or more, but it still beats paying $50 and up for the skampler cd... It's always a good idea to shoot an email to sellers listed on gemm.com to simply ask whether they have an item in stock or not. That'll save all the headache... -----Original Message----- From: Greg Clow [mailto:greg@stainedproductions.com] Sent: Wednesday, September 26, 2001 10:14 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [idm] skampler At 10:09 AM 26/09/01, somrux wrote:

There's also a Ska compilation called - wa-hey!- Skampler that a lot of stores list online, so some of the stuff you're seeing on Gemm might be that. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend Gemm. It's where a lot of the web's worst and unreliable record sellers congregate. Not to say that everyone there is bad, but damn, be careful. I tried to order a rarity through a GEMM.COM seller and they never sent it. They never accepted any money from me so at least I wasn't ripped off. But what they do is list all this music that they don't actually have at all. Not sure what the point of doing that is. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I've found Gemm to be excellent - I've mainly got hold of a lot of 70s electric jazz rarities through them. What I always do is email the vendor to check they still have it and then order it. Might be worth a try? Also there's an indication on the search result page as to vendor reliability. All the best, Colin.

Yes, GEMM is best when you use your judgment. A little selectivity (their sorta new rating system aids in this) goes a long way, and you can have a fair idea of how good the vendor is by checking how recently they've changed their GEMM listings. I've never been burned on GEMM, and I've gotten some nice rarities. -Ryan At 04:07 PM 9/27/01 +0100, you wrote:
