'ello! Yep, it's another one of my 'bored at work' questions! So, best live set, who/what/where/why? I think mine was SquarePusher and Ceephax @ Glasto 99. Was only suppose to be a 15 min set, but I think they played for about 30. Very, very, very good, best thing I've ever seen. Was anyone else there? (and I have to say, Tricky is pretty damn good live to!) ===== --- http://www.peoplesound.com/artist/akabenhatchelt ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? rock Man or Astroman - Washington University St.Louis 1994 Space Streakings- Metro, Chicago 1995 electronic Thomas Brinkmann - Empty Bottle 2000 if you can fill the dancefloor at the empty bottle, i give you mad mad mad mad props. the chicago smartypants scene needs to loosen up and shake a booty also i have to shoot out some experimental jazz props to my boys Bablicon who are currently touring England and Germany. they put on a great live show, kind of a fusion of captain beefheart, soft machine, george gershwin and karlheinz stockhausen ... go see it if you're remotely interested in experimental music. but don't expect shoe-gazing chin-strokers because these guys like to have a good time on stage. -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Wed, 25 Oct 2000, [iso-8859-1] Ben Hatchelt wrote:

Bill Frisell Band - Yoshi's / Oakland, CA 1991 Pole - NY 11/98 (?) Can't remember the exact date or location. The club was located near the entrance to one of those bridges in NY and Scion was also on the bill. Best show ... hmm. Okay so it's not a show but best music including DJs: Ron D Core in 97 (maybe), playing at the dr. freecloud's weekly. The sickest two hour speedcore set I've ever heard, even with something like a total of 9 people in the room. Speedfreak vs. Bazooka at some generic multi-room megarave in 98 with an enormous hardcore room. The crowd was about to destroy something when they dropped "evil empire." Christoph Fringelli recently spanked me like a naughty schoolgirl with the best noise jungle set ever. live music: probably Richard Devine in hollywood last year. Something about evil noise ambient droning stuff just k-d0minates me. Just a dumb little hipster oxygen bar venue and laptops, but *man*. Richard Devine is the chron. ---- "That was my party. Straight bass drum with tuba." Best IDM live set I have ever seen? Matmos at the Labradford Festival of Drifting in Endinburgh last year. Otherwise there are too many to choose from. One of my best show ever was the Dog Faced Hermans in... hrrmm... 92 I guess. -- Julien --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Haven't been to an awful lot of IDM gigs, but out of those I have attended, my favourite thus far has got to be the Orbital/Plaid gig at Brixton Academy, 1999. -- Mark Stevens http://www.headspin.clara.net/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
