3" uli troyer | nok
fennesz is a fellow that for some reason can do my ears no wrong!
everything i have heard from him has been fantastic, and these two little
live bits are no exception. beautiful, layered, textured sound with
a very subtle pop-like structure (something that he manages in the most
unique of ways). the second track really confirms for me that the
music he produces could act as a nice bridge between chaotic noise and
lush shoegaze type stuff. curious to see if (and this is mostly a big
"if") he would ever work with a vocalist.. i think the outcome would be
quite slick...
i have never heard uli troyer before now, but i like the subtleness of
these songs. the style of sound reminds me of a few things:
- a little of the komet pieces in the noton 20' to 2000 series -- though a
little more abrupt, chaotic, and not quite as colorful.
- a little like a tiny, tiny, minimal richie devine..
- the first metic 12" from schematic, but far less active.
...perhaps?
both 3" cds are well worth the price, even at $8 a pop or whatever i paid.
does anyone have more info on uli troyer?
happy monday,
chris.
