I am curious about the people's opinion's on Richard James' musical progression and peak of creativity now that he supposedly is finished releasing records. When (if at all) does anyone think that he has (or hasn't) reached his musical peak? My opinion is that he was about 3/4 of the way up the hill when he decided to call it quits. I believe that if he had (or will) release another LP, it could've (could) be where I think his peak would be. I ask because it's almost inevitable that all musical talent in all genres of music will likely end their musical creativity on a low note. Now this is obviously not always the case. but I'd have a tough time trying to think of an artists final album as "the best", because if it was that good, chances are the band would try to follow it up with another. With that in mind, is it also possible that this was part of the thinking behind RJ's calling it quits? Ending on a high note rather than stretch out a musical career that according to history would probably end on an average one? Another point of view that I like to look at it is that his entire career has been at peak level, as compared to other artists putting out music at the same time. Through each release, his music seemed to surpass most of the competition....so in a sense, he's never come down from his peak. Any thoughts on this? I want to know how many Aphex Twins can dance on the head of a pin! I would like to hear more from him because I think he is a fine composer and sound designer. This whole 'resigning from music' thing I believe is his way of taking a few years off to decide what to do next, now that the sky has shit pots of money on him. If he said 'I'm taking a year off' no one would think twice about it. "I'm not going to release any more records" adds to his mystique. He's not some damn Rimbaud you know. He's a red haired goof from the provinces with a bit of talent who got lucky. Anything you read in a magazine attributed to him has always been quite a bit less than serious, so just hold tight -- it's not like there isn't anything else to listen to. kent williams -- kent@avalon.net http://jump.to/cornwarning -- Iowa's First Techno Record Label http://www.mp3.com/chaircrusher -- tunes --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i think this bastard is never going to peak he'll keep making tracks and only releasing when he needs more money, thats what i assume hes doing now, making music simply for the sake of making music, no boundaries, doesnt give a fuck what others thinks, because it really doesnt matter, he can release what ever the hell he wants and well buy it. at least once, anyway, if its really bad(and probrably twice, how many of you thought the rdj album was terrible, mocking, the first time you heard it) if everyones really anxious to hear what hes been up to lately, how about stealing it, or killing him, im sure its in his will somewhere that it gets released, or maybe hes like kafka, and the only way it will get out is if someone "saves" it from destruction or disintigration. maybe its just the psychology imprinted by the medias image of him, but i dont think so, i still havent seen a single article on the bugger except for the thing in TEX, his music is the mystifying thing about him, it's always growing, expanding, and destroying the bounderies set up around it. same can be said for autechre. sadly, it can no longer be said for muziq, the envelopes sealed just a little bit to tight, but dont give up hope yet, look at the difference between bluff limbo and in pine effect, urmer bile and lunatic harness. one of those old school buggers who actually got in through industrail, skinny puppy and teargarder, etc. brian _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. his peak was hangable auto bulb 1. it all went downhill from there. except for the windowlicker video, the bit with the umbrellas was genius. now stop living in the past and get on with talking about wolfgang voigt cos the golden age of british electronica is officially over, it looks like the germans won. -- String Theory : stop your frontin and put down that laptop http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hey, I always thought that Windowlicker video is the most disgusting and sickening thing he's ever done.... What a shame for a creator of "I care because you do....". His carreer should end definetely if he's going to pursue in direction of windowlicker..... btw. Come to Daddy video rules! His best albums were Vetolin remixes and RDJ Little Album STRICTLY IMHO - no offense or objections acceptable. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
