my own personal review culled from my page:
Realizations is a jazzy, electronic masterpiece, along the same lines as
Bola's Soup. Combining simple beats along with complex sound elements and
whispers of static noise, if.then.else creates a work of true thought,
introspection, and realization. The album is essentially the soundtrack to
the processes of the mind. "Come Along" floats smoothly by on synthesized
bell sounds and murky beat patterns, making one feel as if their heater had
discovered the synthesizer and was producing music. "Going To" takes a
slightly faster approach to its goal, with simple but beautiful
bell/chime/beat patterns. "Fanga" feels like a song to listen to while
gliding through the sewers, watching green waste float by, brown pipes drip
water, bugs scurrying past. A truly unique and wonderful sound experience.
"Induced States" contiunes, combining several layers of slow drum beats,
along with organ synthetic sounds, creating a smooth, glassy track which
flows seamlessly as if one is taking a ride down multiple tubes which
intertwine, as if taking a virtual 'slide' to various locations while
looking at clockwork. "What If" is filled with twists and turns, changing
from a static ambient track to one with minimal beats combined with superb
synthesizer melodies and haunting wind instrument sounds. if.then.else
seems to be saying "what else could I do with this track." "Ipso
Facto" is one of the best songs I have heard electronically, combining
emotion and machine into one. Using simple keyboard sounds and drum beats,
along with a whispery gaseous background, "Ipso Facto" is pure mood music
for the intelligently inclined. "Muse" is another slow, atmospheric gem,
making the listener feel as if they are travelling up slowly through
a giant smokestack, looking at cracks (beats) and streams of gas (melody)
and color (every other sound). "Until" is another beautiful composition
along the same lines as "Ipso Facto." if.then.else's first release is a
rare sign of true brilliance in the
cluttered electronic world of the modern era. A-
hope it helps.
