here's what i posted about the cd in question in november of last year... Recieved a great little promotional Matmos-related cd in the mail today called "Archieve Fever." On this 1-track 20-minute cd Matmos mix-in/remix some original Matmos electonic & guitar sounds over bits & pieces of tracks from the Matador back catalog. The tracks that Matmos work into the mix in some way, shape, or form are: - Cat Power: in this hole - Cat Power: american flag - Pavement: spit on a stranger - Pavement: speak, see, remember - Pavement: the hexx - Pole: fahren - Cornelius: mic check - Cornelius: typewrite lesson - Solex: randy costanza - Solex: solex all lickety split - The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion: fuck shit up - The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion: controversial negro - Guitar Wolf: kung fu ramone culimination tactic - Guitar Wolf: midnight violence rock'n'roll - Guitar Wolf: jet blues - Guitar Wolf: devil stomp - Void: x-factor Depsite the indie-rock sound of many of the above releases, this mix/remix cd is very electronic. Matmos do a wonderful job at mixing this eclectic group of releases into an thoroughly enteraining cohesive track. Great job Drew & Martin! These promo-only cds were handed out at the Matador "A Nice Weekend in London" & "A Nice Weekend in New York" shows from last September. So you'll really have to shake some trees (or used cds shops) to find copies of this one.
