hey,
i've decided to try my hand at making music i want to listen to (besides
fucking around with rebirth, fruityloops, et. al). what i really want is a
piece of hardware to make this possible (if someone can convince me to buy
a soundcard for my computer, that *might* be ok, but i'm really looking
for something to get my hands on). if anyone can recommend a good online
store to browse around on, or suggestions, that would be good. i realize
this is really vague, but i'm starting to get a hunger to produce
something (and the sheer volume of stuff that is out there is
intimidating). i was thinking novation drum station? bass station?
something with good percussion, instruments, and sampling is really
what i'm looking for. (i'm willing to spend a decent amount).
kid a. it actually grew on me since i got it. i agree that it's no ok
computer (although actually pablo honey is my favorite)- but it's still
pretty good. "morning bell" is a great track, with that rhodes sounding
keyboard, it sounds like a return to form.
stuff i'm loving:
kid a (duh)
ian pooley
auto-biography
underworld live
autechre live @ coachella
designer music v1
timo maas
i'm listening to less idm nowadays. still have to get "tides" (arovane)
and a few other things. "solvently one listens" comes to mind. also, say
what you may but i really like the groove armada "back to mine".
