hey, i've decided to try my hand at making music i want to listen to (besides fucking around with rebirth, fruityloops, et. al). what i really want is a piece of hardware to make this possible (if someone can convince me to buy a soundcard for my computer, that *might* be ok, but i'm really looking for something to get my hands on). if anyone can recommend a good online store to browse around on, or suggestions, that would be good. i realize this is really vague, but i'm starting to get a hunger to produce something (and the sheer volume of stuff that is out there is intimidating). i was thinking novation drum station? bass station? something with good percussion, instruments, and sampling is really what i'm looking for. (i'm willing to spend a decent amount). kid a. it actually grew on me since i got it. i agree that it's no ok computer (although actually pablo honey is my favorite)- but it's still pretty good. "morning bell" is a great track, with that rhodes sounding keyboard, it sounds like a return to form. stuff i'm loving: kid a (duh) ian pooley auto-biography underworld live autechre live @ coachella designer music v1 timo maas i'm listening to less idm nowadays. still have to get "tides" (arovane) and a few other things. "solvently one listens" comes to mind. also, say what you may but i really like the groove armada "back to mine". g. - gabriel weinstock: music director, WEOS 89.7/90.3FM geneva, ny hobart and william smith colleges http://www.hws.edu/weos (listen online) "temporary insanity" th. nights 9 - 10pm --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

it's really good. i guess if you're an underworld completist you might not find everything you want, but whatever. it's worth it for the rez/cowgirl mix. plus, the sound quality is great. g. On Thu, 5 Oct 2000, wells wrote:
