First of all: You know what would be great? If we didn't talk about Bush, Gore, or how stupid America is compared to Europe, or Canada, etc. I know that plenty of people on here must have opinions on the above, but honestly, I'm not subscribed because I give the tiniest flying microfuck what anyone on here thinks about the upcoming election. Not to be needlessly rude, but this is what everyone is talking about on every (themed) mailing list I'm on. If you live here, vote for whomever you think will do the best job, and keep your feelings about it to some politics ranting newsgroup. Everyone's music tastes, on the other hand, I am interested in. Anyway. The CiM album is pretty good, so I'm throw my recommendation on the pile. It's a neat little album, and the short songs are nice. I'm so used to 8 minute tracks of repetition that could be cut in half that this is a surprising change of pace. I sense a contender for album of the year from a lot of people. Also, Jega's _Geometry_ is killing me. I can't believe how much I like this. I'm not even sure why, I suppose because it's just the IDM-ish sound done well. I'd say it's IDM that reminds me more of Autechre's EP7 than Amber, which is why I really dig it. A little metasynth use here and there and there that seemed goofy, but overall I liked the strange sense of harmony that seemed to pervade the whole album. "Rigid Body Dynamics" makes me want to breakdance in much the same way that Atom Heart's "Harddisk Rock (Don't Stop)" does. I haven't been listening to the CiM all that much because this is kicking my ass much harder. Oh yeah, and I heard two mp3s off Vladislav Delay's _Multila_ the other day. Wow do they kick ass. I'm going to go get Multila, just trying to decide where to order it from. Some of his other stuff is all housey apparently? ---- "That was my party. Straight bass drum with tuba." Multila is so great. the album cohesion is so good that i have trouble believing that it came from 2 seperate 12"s (although if you had to choose, the huone 12" has the killer tracks from multila, namely huone and viite) delay just kills me, it's like when i first started listening to coil, i remember just thinking how was it humanly possible to make something as good as time machines or horse rotorvator? if you don't have entain (delay's more recent cd as vladislav delay) which is a progression but int he same vein as multila, you'd better be getting it. it's the perfect balance between good enough that i know you'll like both about equally but different enough to not be repetitive. i've heard 2 of delays other projects, the sistol cd and the luomo cd. sistol is more beaty but very minimal, "house-y" is definitely not the word although there is a standard 4/4 beat on most of the album. it's enjoyable but not essential and no where near the proper vladislav material IMO. luomo would probably be great if i liked standard deep house but as it is i'm not to crazy about it...so, i'm just waiting for his next mille plateaux release. oh yeah, and i heard about another surname, uustalo with and album that seemed to be live...is it actually live or is this being clever? has anyone heard it? choralone5 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
