Hello, I totally agree with my good friend Dirk here. This whole IDM thing is getting way to large! I saw one the same person posting 10 mails to the list! That's really astronomical i think. Best wishes Brodery ps: I included a picture of what my friend Dirk looks like

Dirk, It's nice of you to think of us all and the issues we -must- all have with the sheer volume of list mail we receive daily. However, there's been this wonderful invention called a digest.. On the digest, you only receive 1 to 2 emails at best containing all the pertinent idm info you could need.. perhaps you should consider this as an option? Thanks for playing,... -Kate -----Original Message----- From: Dirk Dertien [mailto:dirk_audible@yahoo.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 04, 2000 2:47 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: [idm] Re: IDM Limit That answer is to easy Jeffie Jeff and all those other peoples :) I meant this seriously I think it's better for every member of this list to prevent an IDM overload ;( Comments? Sweet merciful crap. Would you please quit your whinging and either switch to the digest version of the list of unsubscribe? IDM is a fairly high volume mailing list. Get over it. And would you and your pal please stop attaching image files to your posts? It's annoying, and really unnecessary. i have a better idea. how about not attaching files to your emails? this would be especially important for those watching their mailbox quotas. as for limiting at all, c'mon... there are over 900 people on this list. what are we supposed to do? collaborate with our 90 nearest listmembers and come up with one email per group per day? yeah, whatever. idm content: well, none right now. this limit thing is the most ridiculous thing that i've ever heard of. almost worse than discussing US politics on the list... real idm content: i love morr. putting the morr back... is probably my comp of the year, and styrofoam's point misser is definitely a top ten album. wonder if they'll ever get their website together... No way! This is brilliant, it's like a democracy... but online! We can have 90 groups based on IDM defining quality, such as: Autechre sucks/rocks Vinyl sucks/rocks Mp3 piracy sucks/rocks DSP sucks/rocks noise sucks/rocks hardcore sucks/rocks rephlex sucks/rocks etc. Each group get's one post/day so each group better come up with some good content. Next on the agenda: IDM list uniforms/team jerses(sp?) -andrew -- andrew smith is white rabbits. http://www.konfused.net/~asmith/ Eupholus Records: (217)353-5188 http://www.eupholus.net/ "The stupider it looks, the more important it probably is..." --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Then stop attaching a picture of Dirk to every email you send! Your emails are HUGE!

Better ten on-topic emails then one off-topic binary, which shows up as goobly-gook to digest users. It sounds like you should be on the digest--try it, you'll like it. BTW, The list isn't really getting larger, it's just suffering from a flood of back-to-school posters. Jacob

Yeah but if he switches to the digest then he'll have to scan through the 50-100 pages of text each of his jpeg posts generate. Which brings the point: why are attachments posted to the digest? Seems to me you they could be filtered out pretty easily, and they really serve no purpose. I don't really see why allowing attachments on the regular list serves any purpose for that matter, but I'd imagine filtering them out of the regular list would be a little more difficult. Anyhow Dirk, if you're really concerned about the amount of e-mail you have to go through, at least be considerate enough not to make digest people scan through pages and pages of your useless uuencoded pics. I don't know if I should send this. Is 1 post every four months overload?
