hi all,
my guide to the electronica+hiphop that you can download from emusic
[
http://www.emusic.com] has been updated with a whole bunch of new stuff,
and you can still find it at:
http://www.mono211.com/emusic
..as for what i think of the whole emusic dealio, the subscription offer
from emusic which allows you to download any of their tunes for $19.99
month-by-month or $9.99 a month if you sign up for a year still seems..
reasonable to me. not amazing, but reasonable.
it's a real shame Ninja Tune hasn't come back online, tho, since that was
probably the jewel in the crown of the service, but there's some pretty
interesting stuff if you hunt around, and the breadth of genres is still
excellent - for example, there's some great James Brown-esque 60s Ethiopian
funk in the world music section right now!
oh, and please try to forward my emusic-guide URL on to whoever might be
interested in the whole legal mp3s thing, so far i've ended up getting more
hits from emusic employees than members of the public, and that wasn't
really the point, heh.. i made the unofficial page to help people out in
picking out the best mp3s up there..
regards,
h0l.
